Revised 11/15/81
Protection of Public Parks and Historic Places
Research of the National Register of Historic Places indicates that
there are no historic places near the Maxwell Mine which will be
affected by the mine' s operation. There also are no publicly owned
parks in the area which will be affected by the Maxwell Mine operation.
Surface Mining Near Underground Mining
No surface mining is currently taking place in the vicinity of the
Maxwell Mine. To CF&I Steel Corporation' s knowledge, no surface mines
are planned in the near future which would conflict with the operation
of the Maxwell Mine.
Subsidence Survey, Monitoring, and Control Plan
A subsidence control plan has been prepared for the Maxwell Mine and is
shown on the Subsidence Control Plan Map (Map 17). All structures and
renewable resource lands which exist in the permit and adjacent areas
are shown on this Map. A description of these structures is shown in
Table 17, Structures' Description. This list of structures has been
attained by an inventory of all the lands which will be affected by the
Maxwell Mine.
Renewable resource lands exist in the form of the Purgatoire River and
associated alluvial valley floor. The lands away from the valley floor
are non-renewable resource lands. The location of the renewable
resource lands are shown on the Regional Hydrology Map (Map 8). The
description of the renewable resource lands has been completed and is
shown in Exhibit 6, Hydrology and Geology Information, as prepared by
Water, Waste, and Land Limited.
If subsidence occurs in the area which will be affected by the Maxwell
Mine, damage to structures or renewable resource land is expected to be
minimal . This conclusion is based on completion of calculations as
shown in Exhibit 21, Subsidence Control Plan.
2.05-45
