TSC would like reduce the amount <br />of disturbance. We originally planned to open a mining area of approximately 1 acre but instead have <br />excavated an area 175' x 75' x 22' deep (.30 acres). We have found that this is an adequate and <br />manageable size for our mining pit. One primary benefit to operating at a smaller scale, other than the <br />obvious financial expense, is that our storage stockpiles for topsoil and overburden are much smaller <br />than if we had initially excavated 1 acre.
