Kathy Welt
December 10, 2012
With regards to the monitoring wells, the exploration liability may be released pending submittal of a
request for bond release and one of the following:
1. Transfer of wells as per Rule 4.05.14 to the landowner.
2. If these wells are a part of an approved monitoring plan and are currently bonded under another
bond instrument.
3. Submitting a Drill Hole Abandonment report and Final Reclamation Report after the wells are
sealed, plugged, and reclaimed.
X- 2003 - 212 -05
An $11,022.00 bond is held for the project known as the Alluvial and Hydrologic Monitoring Wells
Project Plan located in Sections 33 and 34 of Township 13S Range 90W and Section 2 of Township 14S
Range 90W in Gunnison County. This NOI was filed on July 28, 2003. Based on the Division's research
of this NOI, five holes were drilled and completed as monitoring wells and are designated as SOM 3E,
SOM 313, Lower dry Fork Alluvial, 3 -11 -1 E, and Upper Dry Fork Alluvial. On July 27, 2006, the
Division received the 180 -day Report and it was noted that these wells will remain until 2018. After
further research, it appears that well 3 -11 -1 E was addressed in the Mining and Reclamation Permit in
MR 298.
We ask that you consider the following so that we can both close out this NOI from our files:
1. Submit a letter to the Division officially requesting bond release for well 3 -11 -1 E.
2. Please provide the Division with the status of the remaining four wells and information pertaining
to permits.
With regards to the remaining monitoring wells, the exploration liability may be released pending
submittal of a request for bond release and one of the following:
X- 1997 -221
The Division does not currently hold a bond for the project known as the 1997 Exploration Drilling
located in Section 19 of Township 13S Range 89W, Section 6 in Township 14S Range 89W, Sections 31,
32, 33, and 34 of Township 13S Range 90W, and Sections 1 and 2 of Township 14S Range 90W in
Gunnison County. This NOI was filed on June 19, 1997. Based on the Division's research of this NOI,
three holes were drilled under the authority of the NOI and are designated as 97 -1 -1, 97 -6 -1, and 97 -15 -1.
The Division received the drill hole abandonment report on January 12, 1998. After further research, it
appears that hole 97- 15 -1was addressed in the Mining and Reclamation Permit in MR 222.
We ask that you consider the following so that we can both close out this NOI from our files:
1. Submit a letter to the Division officially requesting bond release for hole 97 -15 -1.
2. Please provide the Division with the status of the remaining two holes and information pertaining
to bonding.
