The individual feeds from the MCC to each pump motor will be PVC conduit
imbedded in the floor slab. Note that all imbedded risers and elbows will be specified as
PVC jacketed rigid steel conduit. Additionally each motor will have RTD's for thermal
protection monitoring on the windings as well as the for the bearings. Each pump motor
will also have imbedded motor winding heaters to prevent condensation from forming on
the windings when the motor is not in use.
The base building lighting layout will consist of approximately eight 8'-fluorescent
high output lights. This will light the building interior to approximately 60fc at floor level.
There will be two battery-pack emergency lights located on opposing walls within the
building to aid in illuminating the area in case of power failure. Three high-pressure sodium
wall packs will be located on the building exterior walls and will operate from integral
photo-eyes. The building will contain approximately six duplex receptacles and one
welding receptacle dispersed throughout the plant. In addition there will be one vent fan,
two electrical heating units, one traveling hoist unit, a packaged surge air-compressor unit,
a packaged bubbler air compressor unit, and an electric overhead door operator that will
require electrical connections and some control interfacing.
A #4/0 soft drawn bare copper ground grid will be laid out around the plant and
compression bonded to copperweld ground rods, motors, tanks, building structure, and
major pieces of electrical equipment. The pre-design and opinion of cost does not include
any lightning protection.
The instrumentation and control system will be designed around a Reliance
Automate PLC system. The control system will be set-up such that the plant can run in
a hand mode at the pump station, or in an auto mode using a Milltronics ultrasonic level
transducer. The pumps will be programmed to sequence on depending on the level in the
sump pond. Additionally there will be provisions for the EMS system to override the
automatic control via the Honeywell TDC in the Main Control Building. Note that at this
time the radio system was not included in the opinion of cost sheets; however provision
were made in the PLC 1/0 to account for the connection of this unit.
15
