The ut-off wall would then be
constructed as a single wail starting within the keyway. In the original design. no f
provisions wen made to address conditionS where the key co Id not be trenched.
Lt;during excavation of the ctrt-off wall key,the bedrock s precludes advancement
of the keyway, a modification to the design is recommended ovide a
Pr watertight seal
against the bedrock. It is recommended that a 24-inch concrte wall footing foundation
be constructed ort the surface of the bedrock prior to fo 'ng the cut-off wall. The
purpose of the footing is to provide a large surface area seal ate the bedrock face, thus
minimizing any potential seepage between the cut-off wall an bedrock. The footing will
be constructed in the following steps:
The bedrock will be visually inspected to emurc a rock face is competent
and free ofU u asuussve tete orJ
oints, a condition of the bedrock
Prior to footing construction will be documented;
The bedrock surface sitali be cleaned to be free of soil, loose rock, or other
foreign materials or substancos to promote adhc ion of the footing to the
bedrock surface;
awoo eoc
