C
Bryce Romig 2 Page 2
• Slurry Cut-Off Wall - Pre-design investigations consisting of 7 coreholes with pressure
packer tests in the underlying bedrock indicate a zone of weathered bedrock above the
unweathered bedrock. Packer tests show the weathered bedrock is low to moderately
permeable (10-4 to 10-6 cm/sec) and may present a pathway for subsurface seepage. To
intercept this potential seepage, the impoundment design would include a slurry wall which
would be excavated through the surficial soils and keyed into the unweathered bedrock.
(The packer tests results indicate the unweathered bedrock may be considered
impermeable.) The slurry wall would have a bulk hydraulic conductivity of less than 10-7
cm/sec to limit subsurface seepage.
• Conveyance Pipeline - A conveyance pipeline is included in the impoundment design to
allow controlled water flow between Robinson Lake and the impoundment. This feature is
needed to control water levels in Robinson Lake and the impoundment, and may be used to
convey process waters under a mine production scenario.
Since the impoundment includes a zoned-earthen dam, the dam will be designed to meet the
requirements set forth in the "Rules and Regulations for Dam Safety and Dam Construction",
State of Colorado, Office of the State Engineer, Division of Water Resources.
If you should have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at (303) 850-
9852.
Respectfully,
Titan Environmental Corporation
John F.
