M-77-493
Dear Mr. Romig:
Thank you for the submittal of the above referenced design details. If
the Division and Climax Molybdenum Company can agree to one modification,
then the Division can accept the leak collection and conveyance system
proposed for the 4-Dam seep water return pipeline. It is the Division's
opinion that the clay barrier to be located at Station 16+80 should be
augmented at its upstream face with a layer of geomembrane that is
continuous with the geomembrane in the pipeline trench. The 4 inch and
8 inch pipes would then have to be booted through the geomembrane. Such
a design modification would provide continuous geomembrane containment for
possible leakage from the 8 inch pipeline with the exception of the
section of pipeline that passes through the 4-Dam embankment.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Allen C. Sorenson
Reclamation Specialist
C:\WP51\CLIMAX2.4DM
