Reclamation plans have been developed to restore surface
lands and drainage. These plans are discussed in detail in the mine
permit application.
A survey of all water users of both surface and ground water
has been made and an assessment of potential impacts completed. This
information is contained in the mine permit application and Appendix 5
of this report. No major changes have been observed since the survey
was conducted in 1984.
Monitoring of area hydrologic functions will continue at the
two mines. This is an important mitigative measure because it provides
for identification of potential impacts and corrective actions to be
taken.
5.0 MONITORING PROGRAMS FOR 1989
Surface and ground water sampling to be conducted during 1989
will be similar to that of 1988 . Stations added to the program during
1988 included well PAW-7 and Pond 005 associated with the Golden Eagle
Mine discharge, and stations LCS-1 , WCS-1 and CHC-1 associated with
permit area expansions of the Golden Eagle Mine. Because of continued
activity both underground and on the surface, monthly, quarterly and
annual data will be gathered at the mines and adjacent areas. This
data will be used to further assess potential impacts of mine
operations and effects on the existing hydrologic balance. Proposed
stations and parameters to be monitored are included in Tables 1 and 2.
No changes in the program are currently proposed, however, during 1989
WFC may find it necessary to further modify this program. In this
event, WFC will notify the Division in writing.
-21-
