It was established to monitor the <br /> quality and quantity of water movement into the downstream <br /> (west) end of the diversion. <br /> PAW-5 Alluvial well located below PRS-2 at the Golden Eagle <br /> Mine entrance. Established to gather baseline data above the <br /> Golden Eagle Mine and monitor quantity and quality of water <br /> in the alluvium below the New Elk Mine. <br /> PAW-6 Alluvial well located adjacent to PRS-3. Established to <br /> monitor mine discharge, existing coal refuse and other <br /> potential effects of mining below the Golden Eagle Mine. <br /> PAW-7 Alluvial well located adjacent to the proposed Pond 005 and <br /> existing Pond 003 at the Golden Eagle Mine. Established to <br /> monitor alluvial ground water downdip of the new pond. <br /> CCAW-1 Alluvial well located in the Ciruela Canyon alluvium at the <br /> mouth of Ciruela Canyon. Established to monitor potential <br /> effects of Golden Eagle mining and surface facilities <br /> activities in the canyon and coal processing waste bank <br /> construction. <br /> ACAW-1 Alluvial well located in the Apache Canyon alluvium at the <br /> mouth of Apache Canyon. Established to monitor potential <br /> effects of secondary or retreat mining. This station is <br /> currently inactive as per CMLRD approval. <br /> WPD-1 West Portal Mine discharge at the New Elk Mine located in <br /> inactive West Portal Area. Discharge does not reach <br /> Purgatoire River. This site was added during the 1987 <br /> sampling program. <br /> RDA Pond Settling pond located at the base of the Refuse Disposal <br /> Area of the New Elk Mine. <br /> -7- <br />
