OF MINERALS
&GEOLOGY
RE: Closure of Robinson Pump Station—Climax Mine
Dear Mr. Sorenson:
The letter is to inform the Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) about the closure
of Robinson Pump Station at Climax Molybdenum Company's (CMC) Climax Mine.
This closure of an environmental protection facility was mandated due to the completion
and start-up of Robinson's replacement, Warrens Pump Station.
You are already in receipt of the design drawings and specifications for the approved
environmental protection facility of Warrens Pump Station. An evaluation of the water
balance has been made demonstrating that Warrens Pump Station, along with an
operational plan for Robinson Lake, will meet or exceed the hydraulic environmental
protections afforded by Robinson Pump Station. Attached is a certification from
Colorado registered professional engineer Tim Eastep, stating this fact.
Please feel free to call if you have any questions or are in need of any further information.
I can be reached at (303) 569-3221 ext. 2214 or(719) 486-2150 ext. 724.
Very truly yours,
Erich Bower
Environmental Engineer
Climax Molybdenum Company
Enclosure
Cc: Anne Beierle-Climax Molybdenum Company
Jay Cupp-Climax Molybdenum Company
Tim Eastep-Climax Molybdenum Company
