north, which provides no resistive barrier to the avalanches. The avalanches should slide directly
on top of the permanent pile without affecting the stability.
The avalanches on site in the past have generated air blasts that can damage the buildings such as
the dry house. The cribbing located on site helps to protect against this damage. As an additional
level of protection, the southeast end of the Revenue waste pile will be built and graded at a
vertical position slightly above the rest of the pile, to create a sort of protection berm against the
air blast. Once the Revenue waste pile gets high enough, this will no longer be necessary.
Sediment Ponds 1 and 2 will contain all run off from the waste piles. The discharges from these
ponds will be tested for zinc, lead, and other dissolved metals based on the requirements of the
CDPHE stormwater discharge permit. Both ponds are temporary, and will therefore contain the
10 -yr event while passing the 25 -yr event. Details of the ponds designs and requirements can be
found in Exhibit G. Information regarding the waste rock and tailings chemistry can be found in
Exhibit T.
Revenue Mine August 2012 D -18
