Mr. Tim Cazier, DRMS
Page 4
PSES Temporary Structure
As previously discussed, a temporary structure, approximately 40' x 100', will be also erected on
the bench above the AGVLF Phase 2 Pregnant Solution Storage Area ( "PSSA ") in order to
provide shelter for construction components of the PSES. This shelter will have a soil
foundation and will be disassembled upon completion of the PSES construction. The temporary
nature of this building precludes any impact on the financial warranty.
Metallurgical Laboratory Concrete Pad and Liner Extension
CC &V's metallurgical laboratory utilizes a box dump trailer to receive crushed reject material
from exploration and mining activities. There is a very remote chance that small amounts of
processed ore could be placed in the box dump trailer. As a precautionary measure, CC &V
would like to extend a liner system beneath the trailer. The area to be lined is approximately 16'
x 26' with a 2' wide trough extending approximately 16' from the concrete pad to the existing
liner system associated with the AGVLF.
The concrete pad and liner extension will consist of geosynthetic clay liner ( "GCL "), overlain by
80 mil double sided textured linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) liner, 12 oz /yd non
woven geotextile, and 6" of reinforced concrete. The sole purpose of the concrete component is
to provide an armoring effect to protect the liner system from operational issues such as snow
control and routine cleanup activities. The LLDPE liner will be attached to the concrete utilizing
industry standard methods of either stainless steel batten strip or polyethylene embedment strip,
at the engineer's discretion. Please see Attachment No. 10 - Drawing No. A100 Concrete Pad
and Liner Extension Plan View and Attachment No. 11 - Drawing No. A200 Concrete Pad and
Liner Extension Sections and Details for additional detail for this project.
The installation specifications for the GCL, LLDPE liner, and geotextile will be consistent with
installation specifications outlined in Amendment No. 10 to Permit M- 1980 -244. The
installation will be overseen by AMEC Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc. ( "AMEC "). A
Construction Quality Assurance ( "CQA ") report will be submitted upon completion of the
project.
Growth Medium Noise Berm Extension
Previously approved Amendment No. 10 to Permit M- 1980 -244 contained a provision for a
growth medium noise berm along a relatively short section of the northern and western edges of
the mining areas. Over the past few months, additional reserves of topsoil from previous mining
activities were discovered and need to be preserved for future use in reclamation activities.
Extending the noise berm will also be of benefit to the surrounding community. Please refer to
Attachment No. 12 - Drawing No. C -4b: Growth Medium Stockpile Locations and Attachment
No. 13 - Drawing No. C -4b: Revised Drawing No. C -4b: Growth Medium Stockpile Locations
that reflects this change.
