Regardless, both the estimated and the actual locations are within the Southfield pillared areas.
There is no annotation to identify the panel but both locations are entries to the right off the 2 North
Submains. Another way to locate this well on your maps is that it is about 400 ft. west and 50 ft.
north of the east quarter corner of Sec. 24. It is therefore only 50 ft. north of the NE1 /4 SE1 /4 Sec.
24.
1 cannot agree with your location of the Southfield workings as they are very definitely under the well,
and the pillars were extracted. Energy's subsidence reports also definitely show subsidence of about
2 ft. of monitoring point I which is 461 ft. north of the well. This monitoring point is over a different
panel but also is a panel right off the 2 North Submains. Its coordinates are 12273.436 N and
9475.881 E.
The majority of the Southfield workings of the 2 North Submains in Sec. 24 are in the E1/2 SE1 /4 and
the SE1 /4 NE1 /4. I am not sure what you mean about their location being the SW1 /2 NE1 /4 Section
24.
The closest Corley Mine workings are about 1000 ft. west of the well. The well is east of the coal
outcrop of the Corley Mine and the well would be lower than the coal seam of the Corley Mine.
Doug Corley
- -- On Tue, 12/4/12, Binns - DNR, Janet <janetbinns@state.co.us> wrote:
Hello Dr. Corley,
happen to have been researching the adjacent wells and the Corley Company Well, DWR
#119459 is located in the NE1 /4 SE1 /4 Section 24, T20S R70W of the 6th Prime Meridian.
According to the DWR permit information, this well was completed to 100 ft. in the Raton
formation.
Referencing Southfield Map 12: Mine Area Surface and Groundwater Hydrology, The MSHA
Map that shwos the final Southfield Workings, and Southfield Map 17: Mine Plan, the
closest Southfield workings are located in SW1 /2 NE1 /4 Section 24, T20S, R70W , 6th PM.
These workings were in the Red Arrow Seam.
The closest Southfield workings to Well 119459 are approximately 1028 feet to the
Southeast. The closest "affected area" (Affected area includes the projected angle of draw
from the workings) to well 119459 is approximately 800 feet to the southeast.
The Division does not have any information to indicate that Well 119459 was undermined by
Energy Fuels. Reference to Map 12 shows that Well 119459 does lie on the eastern edge
of the Corley Mine.
The Division does not have any evidence that Well 119459 was affected by the Southfield
workings.
We are still investigating concerns you have expressed regarding other drill holes in the area.
Janet Binns
