2.05.3
of the slope, some cut and some fill. The haul road will be re- constructed
and paved.
5. Gob Piles
Gob Pile #1 was constructed late in 1997 east of the mine entrance below
the old King Mine portals beginning at the level of the old railroad track
grade. The disturbance associated with the gob pile includes clearing the
area necessary to form the boundary of the pile. Facilities associated with
the gob pile include a topsoil stockpile, cover fill stockpile, haul road and a
sediment pond. Gob pile #2 was constructed during 2004. It is located
approximately 1,500 -feet east of the existing gob pile. Facilities associated
with the new gob pile include a topsoil stockpile, coverfill stockpile, haul road
and a sediment pond.
Gob pile #4 was constructed west of Gob pile #2 and north of Gob pile #1 in
2008. The disturbance associated with the gob pile includes clearing the
area necessary to form the boundary of the pile, and creating a 'borrow area'
in the footprint of the Gob pile in order to increase the cover material
available for reclamation (approved by TR -43). Once this 'borrow area' was
complete, the Operator applied to the DRMS to place Gob in the footprint of
the pile (TR -44) and upon approval from the Division, the Operator began
placing gob in the second quarter of 2007, in 50 foot benches to a maximum
height of 150 feet. At the time of this writing (9/2009), the pile is nearly full.
Topsoil and coverfill material that is salvaged during the site preparation will
be placed in the existing piles.
Gob Pile #3 is located south of Bowie Road. Topsoil has be removed from
the founding of the pile and placed in a stockpile. Cover material has been
salvaged and stockpiled. Use of this pile will commence after appropriate
construction (air) permits are obtained.
6. Unit Train Loadout
The disturbance associated with the unit train loadout is located south of the
mine along the Union Pacific mainline. A conveyor, new track and a batch
weigh system were installed. Approximately 2,800 feet of mainline was
relocated so the lead and parallel storage track could be constructed. The
lead track is 8,240 feet long and the storage track is 3,570 feet long.
(3) Mine Facilities
The major surface facilities are located north of the North Fork of the
Gunnison River. The D -Seam mine portals are located about 800 feet
above old State Highway 133 at an elevation of approximately 6880 feet
where the D -2 Seam outcrops. The B -Seam mine portals will be located
MR -130 2.05-12- 06/18/12
