SHERMAN, SECRETARY, MINED LAND RECLAMATION BOARD
FROM: DR. JERIS A. DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER
SUBJECT: CLIMAX MINE, SUMMIT, EAGLE AND LAKE COUNTIES, APPLICATION FOR
MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT
As requested b q y your staff, we have reviewed the above referenced application
for the underground and open-pit molybceiMum mine located on Fremont Pass.
The applicant' s water rights are shown to be adequate for the mining operation ,
primarily through past experience since the operation has been operating
at its present capacity for several years.
The water requirements for the reclamation plan appear minimal for the
revegetation aspects of the plan. The storage of water in Glary Hole Lake
may require approval of an exchange plan or transfer of water rights through
the Division Water Court to replace water lost to this storage and evaporation
losses from the tributary drainage. In that these Water Court applications
will not be.required until mining is completed and the applicant presently has
sufficient water resources legally available, we have no objections to the
approval of the application.
s A.
