Technical Revision (TR) 47 was approved on May 4, 2010. This TR reduced
the hydrologic monitor plan, both in the number of monitoring sites,
frequencies and analytical parameter lists. Details of the new monitor
plan may be found in the Yoast PAP, Tab 15, pages 31 -33. Tables 15 -8 and
15 -9 in the PAP have been revised to reflect these changes. In addition,
the Surface and Ground Water Parameter Lists (Tables 15 -4, 15 -4a, 15 -5
and 15 -5a in the PAP) have also been changed. In general, new short and
long surface and ground water parameter lists were created.
Meteorological Data
No meteorological data is collected at the Yoast Mine. Data from the
National Climatic Data Center's Hayden Station is used here to evaluate
the precipitation trend. Those data are provided in Appendix S of this
year's Seneca II -W AHR. Precipitation data is summarized on Table 2 of
this AHR. For this year, 25.79 inches of precipitation was measured,
which is 8.45 inches (49a) above the 1971 --2000 average, 17.34 inches.
All months except January, June, August and September were above
average. Snowpack runoff, as estimated by totaling November through
April precipitation values, was 15.59 inches, which was 6.84 inches
(78 %) above the 1971 -2000 average, 8.75 inches. The snowpack was at near
record for this year, and the runoff was delayed due to a cold, wet
spring. This resulted in a high runoff that occurred later than normal.
Ground Water
Water Levels. Table 3 provides a summary of ground water monitoring
sites at the Yoast Mine. Water level data are provided in Appendix B.
Water level reports for the past six years are presented immediately
after the water level hydrograph of all data since 1991. Water level
measurements are collected with an electrical water level indicator or a
steel tape. Pressure readings (in psi) obtained from flowing wells with
pressure gages are multiplied by 2.31 to obtain head in feet. The
current ground water monitoring program is presented in Table 15 -8 of
the Yoast Mine PAP.
2
