If this is correct, flow from the substation area will not be directed to Pond
D, and modifications to the Pond D designs would not be necessary. Oxbow would need only to revise the
Drainage and Sediment Control Plan Map to illustrate flow paths in this area - specifically, the map should
indicate a flow path on the mine area disturbance line that clearly shows that drainage from this area remains
outside of the permitted disturbance area for the Elk Creek Mine. If this assumption is incorrect, and flow from
this disturbed area is directed to Pond D, the design information for Pond D will need to be revised accordingly.
Susan L. It was deemed complete on
November 21, 2012.
The purpose of MR -101 is to clarify the as -built configuration of the methane fueled electrical generating plant
substation adjacent to the Elk Creek fansite. The substation was originally built within the disturbance
boundary and is now proposed to be removed from the disturbance boundary.
You assistance is requested to review the hydrological planning of the constructed substation and determine
its effects, if any, on the hydrological balance of the mine.
A copy of the revision and maps are available for your review. The decision date for this revision is December
1, 2012. 1 would appreciate your comments submitted back to me by November 29, 2012.
Thank you,
Brock Bowles
