As explained below, these Revised
DMRs contain only revised potentially dissolved selenium values. All other parameters
on the previously submitted DMRs remain as previously filed.
For the second quarter of 2011, potentially dissolved values (obtained by ICP -MS, EPA
Method M200.8, MDL range 0.1 to 0.2 ug/l, PQL range 0.3 to 0.5 ug /1) for Outfall 002
were 6.7 ug /1 on April 20, 14 ug /1 on May 5 and 10.7 ug /1 on June 16. For Outfall 004,
potentially dissolved values (obtained by ICP -MS, EPA Method M200.8) were 3 ug /1 on
April 5, 17.9 ug /1 on May 16 and 10.8 ug /1 on June 13. Revised DMRs for these two
outfalls are attached.
For the third and fourth quarters of 2011 at Outfalls 002 and 004, all potentially dissolved
selenium values were obtained by AA- Hydride (EPA Method SM 3114 B, with a MDL
of 1 ug /1 and PQL of 5 ug /1) only. Therefore, those DMRs need not be revised.
For the first quarter of 2012 at Outfalls 002 and 004, potential dissolved AA Hydride
selenium values were me !l all three months while the ID_MS values ----- - . ... ... ... For Outfall 002, the highest AA Hydride value in
the quarter was 4.0 ug /1 on January 9, while the highest ICP -MS value was 3.3 ug /1 on
March 6. As the NOV /CDO requested that we report the ICP -MS values, the attached
Revised DMRs indicate the 3.3 ug /1 value as the highest 30 day average and daily
maximum. For Outfall 004, the highest AA Hydride value in the quarter was 1.2 ug /1 on
February 23, while the highest ICP -MS value was 6.5 ug /1 on March 6. The total
recoverable selenium value was 2 ug /1 on the March sample; this value was obtained by
ICP -MS, EPA Method M200.8, with a MDL of 0.2 ug /1 and PQL of 0.5 ug /1. One would
expect the total recoverable method to result in the same, or higher, value than the
potentially dissolved method (the former involves a hot acid digestion, while the later
