Also included with this response package are the appropriate SEDCAD materials
indicating the results presented above for each channel. Colowyo will be
submitting a technical revision in the near term which will address these as -built
conditions. If you should have any additional questions or concerns please feel
free to contact me at your convenience at (970) 824 -1532.
Sincerely,
draining more than 1 square mile. With that being said, the results are as
follows for a 10 year, 24 hour event:
SEDCAD is unable to model a channel with multiple inputs, i.e. rock lined
and vegetation lined. Without ability to input both parameters into
SEDCAD, and with the SEDCAD outputs presented above, Colowyo
believes the Taylor Tributary Ditch is stable and erosion free in its current
state. Colowyo also believes that this ditch with both a riprap and
vegetation lining is more than adequately to safety pass a 100 year, 24
hour event.
Additionally, during the Division's site inspection on October 10, 2012,
Mr. Rob Zuber stated that the Division is capable of utilizing professional
judgment to determine stability and as -built conditions to determine
whether the ditch meets requirements of the PAP and the Act. Colowyo
believes this is an area where the Division should exercise that
Professional Judgment, and approve the as -built design of the Taylor
Tributary Ditch.
Tony Tennyson
Environmental Engineer
Encl.
Cc: file SL -06 Binder
COAL
COMPANY
+'+s.raouacel °
Vegetated Lined Channel (Smooth Brome) = 6.6 fps
Riprap Lined Channel (Manning N of 0.035) = 7.2 fps
A Western Freels - Colorado, LLC mining property
