O'Connor
Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re : Supplementary Information to 1984 Annual Report , Climax Mine
Dear Mr. O' Connor:
We are in receipt of your request for clarification of some
items in the 1984 Climax Mine Annual Report and will attempt to
respond to the various aspects in question.
Board Meeting
We will be glad to provide the Board with brief reports up-
dating the status of the Henderson and Climax mines at the March
Board meeting. As discussed by phone , 15 minutes for each mine
should be sufficient time to bring the Board up to date.
Reclamation Costs - General
Question 1: Please provide documentation as to how the costs were
derived for "Grading and Site Preparation" for each
site requiring such activity.
Answer: As you are aware , we have a number of structures at
the Climax Mine. Many of the structures have con-
crete foundations which will require further work
after the structure is dismantled. The "Grading and
Site Preparation" line item provides an estimate of
the cost of reducing the concrete foundations ( if
practical ) , burying the foundations and grading for
drainage . Grading and Site Preparation estimates
have been included for some sites which do not have
structures and foundations. Costs in those cases are
to cover the cost of grading for drainage only.
1707 Cole Boulevard•Golden,Colorado 80401 •303/234-9020•TWX:910-937-0746
