2. Q. Is any waste rock currently being hauled to the
Robinson Tailing area; if so , where is it being
stored? Are any portions of the Robinson
Tailing pond ready for waste rock application?
A. Waste rock is not now being hauled to the
Robinson Tailing area. The pond is not yet
ready for waste rock application.
3. Q. Where has topsoil from the McNulty Waste Rock
Dump been used for reclamation?
A. Some topsoil from the McNulty Waste Rock Dump
has been used for landscaping around the Climax
camp. All other soil stripped to date has been
stockpiled .
4. Q. Is the primary criterion for deciding where
waste goes simply access to a dump area? Is
there some way to separate more favorable
materials and place them in locations where they
can do the most good?
A. The amendments we have requested do not propose
any substantial changes,,"in the size or method of
operating our waste d ps; nor do they propose
any change in our me hod of recovering " favor-
able" materials.
Criteria for locating waste dumps include
considerations of economics , accessibility and
compatibility with our reclamation program. We
intend to develop a plan for segregating , or
"stockpiling ," some of our porphyritic materials
in the McNulty dump area. We intend to use this
segregated material for reclamation.
5. Q. What protection is being afforded topsoil
stockpiles to prevent the loss of topsoil?
A. We plan to protect topsoil stockpiles by
revegetation. Since formation of stockpiles has
been more or less continuous to date , none of
them have yet been seeded . However , as soon as
the piles become inactive they will be seeded
with the Climax seed mix . We presently anti-
cipate that two stockpiles will be deactivated
this fall .
-2-
