Simpson, Assistant State Engineer
SUBJECT: Climax Molybdenum - #77-493
,5plication for Mining and Reclamation Permit
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for amendments
to the existing Mining /Reclamation permit number 77-493 for the Climax
Mine. The report states that the Glory Hole will become a large catchment
basin that will probably be fed by rainfall and snowmelt in the Tenmile Cirque
and Glory Hole area. No outflow from the lake is expected and the water
would be lost to evaporation and seepage into the ground. Since the Glory
Hole may result in the storage and subsequent evaporation of water that histor-
ically contributed to runoff in the Arkansas River drainage, the applicant may
be required to obtain a storage right and provide a plan for augmentation for
those periods of time when the water is stored out of priority.
9L . zj!n
Hal D.
