October 31, 2012
Mike:
t ` f l it
yd1(l/a
Greg Lewicki And Associates, PLLC
11541 \\ arrint;tun Court Phu Ile: (303) 316 -5196 Fax (303) -3-16 -693 -1
Parker, CO ESA \ 80138 1?- ,flail: iufo(ticwicki.biz
Mike Cunningham
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RECEIVED
NOV 0 2 2012
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY -
RE: Technical Revision and Surety bond adjustment request for Gloria Z Mine (Permit M -1984-
094)
The permittee for this operation is Sanborn Sand and Gravel dba Golden Cross Aggregate, which
was formerly Sanborn Sand and Gravel, Inc. The operation is a combined gravel and gold
recovery operation. This TR request is to allow for adjustments to the mine plan to address 3
main issues identified during recent inspections:
1) The current permit does not allow for exposure of groundwater. This has been addressed by
enclosing documentation showing that Golden Cross Aggregate has the rights for consumptive
use of a very large amount of water for the mining operation; sufficient for the operation. During
reclamation, this exposure will be backfilled and reclaimed into the existing post -mine use of
rangeland, thus an augmentation plan is not needed. The bond has been adjusted accordingly for
this backfilling.
2) There are currently highwalls which exist at the gold mine excavation and at the south side of
the infiltration pond, as shown on the enclosed revised Map C -2. These highwalls are needed for
the operation, however, it is planned that the highwall at the infiltration pond will be filled by
fines once the gold processing plant is moved to the west side of this pond. This will occur in
2013. It is understood that accounting for backfilling must occur for the current site condition,
which is the worst case bond for the site. This has also been done and is shown in the revised
worst case bond calculations included in this Technical Revision.
3) A large amount of beetle kill trees have been brought to the property. These trees, as shown on
the revised Map C -2, are located off the permit area. Nevertheless, the trees will be processed
into mulch and used for the reclamation of the site as mulch. The operator already has brought in
a powerful mulch machine to do the work.
The revised permit pages are enclosed, as well as the bond adjustment calculations, according to
Rule 4.14 for the Gloria Z Mine.
