The engineer will prepare a post- construction report that will be submitted to the agencies within 30
days of completion of the work.
17. Plant Growth Medium
Soil conditions of the area were described in the initial mine permit application (Exhibit D -2). A brief re-
vegetation plan was also included in the initial permit application (Exhibit E). As stated there, input and
guidelines of local, state, and federal agencies will be sought and followed when mining operation are
completed. Very little soil material exists now or prior to the past mining activities on and near the site.
Most of the current disturbance of the affected area was created prior to the requirement for a mining
permit (pre -law). Therefore, no significant amount of soil was salvaged and stockpiled when the mine
began. Cover material for growth medium, if needed, will have to be excavated, probably from outside
the affected area. Should there be future expansion of the waste rock pile or other surface facilities, soil
stripping and stockpiling will occur.
18. Wildlife Protection
The initial mine permit application included a list of wildlife that use the area (Exhibit D -1). It includes a
statement by Colorado DOW that no endangered species known at that time will be impacted by the
mine. The threatened and endangered species issue will be verified or re- assessed by the BLM during
the development of the Environmental Assessment, mentioned in Section 3, above.
19. Disposal of Liner and Cover in Mine Workings
At the end of mining, the ore stockpile liner, cover material, and top one foot of underlying material will
be excavated and placed in the mine prior to sealing. Since the entire mine is dry the provisions of The
DRMS Rules Subsection 3.1.7 are not applicable.
9
