Dear Mr. Garcia:
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (CDRMS) is in the process of reviewing
outstanding Notices of Intents (NOI) on file that have expired, but may still have bond remaining.
Colowyo Coal Company has seven of these NOIs. The Division would like to close these files and release
the associated bonds as appropriate, which total approximately $1,265,436.00. The status of the open
NOIs are listed below with a summary of each NOI based on the research of the files completed by the
Division.
X- 1980 - 160 -09
This is a complete application on file for the site known as the Little Bear Project. Our database indicates
this application as being under review. It appears X- 1980 - 160 -09 was never approved. The Division is
conducting further research into this NOI. Any information regarding the status of this NOI would be
appreciated. There is no bond associated for this project.
X- 1995- 109 -05
A $25,597.00 bond remains open on this project.
Based on the partial release approved on 10 October 2003, bond remains for 13 sites identified as
monitoring wells. Please provide the Division with information concerning the status of the remaining 13
wells. If these wells are a part of an approved monitoring plan, are permitted through the Colorado
Division of Water Resources, and are currently bonded under another bond instrument, then the
exploration bond associated with X- 1995- 109 -05 may be released pending submittal of a request for bond
release.
X- 2003 - 109 -09
An $8,531.00 bond remains open on this project.
All three required reports for this NOI have been reviewed and found in compliance. A Bond Release
Request submitted to the Division is needed to initiate the bond release process.
