The main haul road within the disturbed area was maintained, culverts and
ditches were functional. Roads outside of the disturbed area,providing access to the Terror Creek Vent Shaft and
gob vent boreholes were also in good condition. The surface of the roadways was graveled to prevent sediment
transport. Observed water runouts were directed through straw wattles.
REVEGETATION—Rule4.1511 Vegetative Cover; Timing:
Two reclaimed gob vent boreholes were inspected. The first, GVB-2B-A,was well vegetated with a
diverse stand of perennial grasses. The second, GVB-B l0A (reclaimed in July 2012) showed good germination of
grasses. The operator had mulched the area with a straw mat, and placed slash over the mat. Germination was
most successful near the slash branches,where shade allowed for increased moisture retention.
SIGNS AND MARKERS—Rule 4.02:
Topsoil identification markers, disturbed area boundary markers, and mine identification signs were
observed during the inspection. All of the markers observed were in good condition and displayed the required
information.
TOPSOIL—Rule 4.06❑ Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3;
Redistribution 4.06.4:
Topsoil stockpiles were observed at GVB-B2-A, GVB-131013, and GVB-13131).
