Compliance With Mine Plan NA - Support Facilities Not On-site <br /> NA -Other NA - Special Categories Of Mining <br /> N -Processing Waste R -Topsoil <br /> COMMENTS <br /> This was a partial inspection of the Bowie No. 2 Mine conducted by Susan Burgmaier, Sandy Brown, and Brock <br /> Bowles of DRMS. Kathy Rosow and Abigail Ogbe of the Colorado Department of Public Health and <br /> Environment(CDPHE),Water Quality Control Division(WQCD), accompanied DRMS on the inspection. Bill <br /> Bear and Gary Harding of Bowie Resources, LLC were present during the inspection. The purpose of the <br /> inspection was to better understand the roles of WQCD and DRMS in stormwater control permitting and <br /> inspections, as well as to allow WQCD personnel an opportunity to view the site prior to the renewal of the <br /> discharge permit currently under review by WQCD. WQCD and DRMS will follow up this inspection with <br /> further discussions on the functions of each division. <br /> Weather conditions during the inspection were sunny and mild; ground conditions were dry. The mine was <br /> producing and stockpiling coal from the D seam. Refuse was being transported to Gob Pile 42. <br /> AIR RESOURCE PROTECTION—Rule 4.17: <br /> The main haul road was being watered during the inspection; no fugitive dust problems were obseii ed on <br /> the roads or coal stockpile areas. <br /> HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05 <br /> Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, <br /> 4.05.10;Diversions 4.05.4;Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring <br /> 4.05.13;Drainage Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> Overall, stormwater control measures on site were functional and in good condition. <br /> Ponds B, C, D, and F held water but were not being discharged. Ponds J and K were dry. All embankments were <br /> stable and vegetated. The inlets to Ponds F and B were downcutting and in need of minor repairs. <br /> Straw wattles were in place on the west end of the downstream side of the crossing of the Terror Creek road over <br /> Terror Creek. The wattles were in good condition,but needed to be staked in place and overlapped.
