The resulting contaminant plumes are
overlain on the geologic cross section for the area. The figures show the extent of
constituents of concern after 1000 years of transport under steady -state conditions. The
concentration intervals represent 1 /1000` and 1 /1E -06 of the initial concentration of
constituents of concern in the pore water of the waste rock pile.
10
Hydraulic Conductivity
(cm /s)
Storativity
Entrada Sandstone
1.9E -5 to 6.5E -5
5E -5 to 7E -5
Morrison Formation
Not available
5E -5
Sandstone
1E -4 TO 1E -8
Not available
Shale
1E -7 TO 1E -11
Not available
Tablet: Hydraulic properties for relevant geologic units
(1) Reference values are from (Lohman, 1965)
(2) Reference values are from (Freeze and Cherry, 1970)
SM -18 Mine Report
GeoScience Services
Table 3: Sorption Coefficients (Kd) for selected analytes based on relevant geologic
material (after Sheppard and Thibault, 1990)
5.0 Results
Results of the contaminant transport modeling for the migration of uranium and
selenium are presented in Figures 2 and 3.
