A small portion consists of steep rock outcrops that support little or no vegetation.
According to the P -J range site description; this plant association generally occurs
between 5,000 and 7,500 feet. Precipitation ranges from 12 -15 inches per year, with an
average annual temperature between 49 and 53 degrees F.
Secondary species associated with a P -J rangeland site include:
Indian ricegrass
Blue grama
Galleta
Cheatgrass
Fendler three awn
Rabbitbrush
Snakeweed
Fleabane
Mountain mahogany
Big sagebrush
Cliff rose
Sedges
None of these species are currently listed on the BLM Colorado Sensitive Species List
found at www.blm.gov /co /st /en/BLM Programs/botany /Sensitive Species List .html.
The vegetative cover on CM -25 may be classified as scattered to sparse. Most Pinon-
Juniper stands do not reach over twenty feet in height (See Appendix I - Photos #7).
For a map of how the vegetation relates to the topography and soil types see
Exhibit T - EPP.
Ecological sites descriptions are not yet available in Colorado. However, a Rangeland
Site Description associated with P -J sites has been provided by the Department of
Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and is included in this exhibit. The
Rangeland Site Descriptions discuss coverage percentages for each species including the
relationship of current vegetation to soil types associated with Pinon- Juniper sites.
B -12
