Well
development will be conducted by airlifting from above the screen and surging within the screened zone
using a double surge block.
The supervising hydrogeologist or geologist will monitor the discharge water during well development.
Wells will be developed until field parameters (temperature, pH, and conductivity) are stable and the
discharge water is clear and free of sediment.
Detailed geologic logs and construction diagrams will be prepared for each new well. The logs will include
information on geologic conditions, boring depth, drilling conditions, depth to groundwater, and well
construction (depth, screened interval, screen slot size, filter pack type and interval, well seal type and
interval, and other pertinent information). All required forms will be submitted to the DWR including
Form 51 Notice of Intent to Construct Monitoring Hole(s) and Form 46 Monitoring /Observation Water
Well Permit Application with the applicable filing fee per well.
10.1.3 Groundwater Monitoring Frequency
Groundwater monitoring will be conducted quarterly for five quarters to provide a sufficient data for
statistical analysis of baseline conditions. Following the initial five quarters, groundwater will be
monitored annually during the non - producing phase and semiannually during the production phase of
operations. The sampling frequency is shown in Table 25.
10.1.4 Groundwater Monitoring Procedures
Groundwater sample collection, sample handling, laboratory analysis, and field data collection are
conducted in accordance with strict environmental protocols for water quality sampling. All field sampling
instruments will be decontaminated and calibrated according to manufactures specifications prior to use.
A general site inspection will be performed upon arrival at each monitoring well and comments regarding
site conditions will be recorded on the field sampling sheet. Depth to water will be measured to the nearest
4148A.120927
Table 25. Groundwater Monitoring Frequency
Whetstone Associates •
