See section 18.4 of the Standard Wurk Sp=ifications, <br /> 1996. <br /> STANDARD WORK SPECIFICATION 18.0, BARBED-WIRE FENCING <br /> 18.1 DESCRIPTION <br /> This specification covers all work involved in construction of barbed-wire fences according to <br /> Standard Drawing Number 9 around hazardous mine openings and reclaimed areas. <br /> 18.2 MATERIALS . <br /> Barbed wire shall be composed of two strands of galvanized Number 12-1/2 steel wire, with 14 <br /> gauge galvanized steel 2-point barbs. Spacing of barbs shall be on approximately 4 to 5 inch <br /> centers. <br /> Steel comer posts. end oft .sts._gate posts for wire gaW, and brace p= shall be 2-1/2 inches x <br /> 2-1/2 inches x 1/4 inch standard steel angle fence posts, 4.10 pounds per foot, with a minimum <br /> length of 7 feet for 4-feet high fences and 8 feet for 5-feet high fences. Braces for these posts <br /> shall he 2 inches x 2 inches x 1/4 inch structural steel angles of proper length to provide <br /> adequate bracing. <br /> Steel line pg= shall be 1-3/8 inches x 1-3/3 inches T-shaped, err 2 inches x 1-1/4 inches U- or <br /> Y-shaped, standard steel fence posts, with a minimum length of 5-1/2 feet for 4-feet high fences <br /> and 6-1/2 feet for 5-feet high fences. All steel line posts shall have an anchor plate. Steel line <br /> posts shall be painted with green enamel. <br /> Wooden ling p= shall be straight, sound and seasoned with ends sawed off square. All knots <br /> shall be trimmed flush with the surface. Posts shall be treated with either Pentachlorophenol, <br /> creosote oil or creosote-petroleum solution,meeting the requirements of AASHTO M 133. Posts <br /> shall be treated by the empty cell method m accordance with American Wood-Preservers' <br /> Association standards, except that the net retention shall be at least five pounds of preservative <br /> per cubic foot of wood. All wooden line posts shall have a minimum diameter of four inches <br /> (4^). All wooden line posts must be a minimum of six feet (6') in length. <br /> Concrete shall be mixed one part Portland H cement to two parts sand and 3-1/2 parts gravel, <br /> with not more than six gallons of water per 94-pound sack of cement. <br /> Gate Bars shall be mixed 2 inches x 4 inches standard dimension lumber, 4 feet long. Gate <br /> spacers shall be 2 inches by 2 inches standard dimension hunber, 3 feel 6 inches long. <br />
