If ecological retrogression is cattle- induced, blue grama, Galleta,
stickyleaf low rabbitbrush, winterfat, Wyoming big sagebrush, and Fendier
threeawn increase. Western wheatgrass, bottlebrush squirreltail, Indian
ricegrass and New Mexico feathergrass would decrease with early spring
grazing. Galleta would decrease with summer grazing. If retrogression is
caused by sheep, desirable (orbs and grasses decrease. Winterfat and
Wyoming big sagebrush would decrease with winter and early spring grazing.
Plant species most likely to invade the site are: cheatgrass, sixweeks
fescue, annual sunflower, mustard, sticktight, Russian thistle and broom
snakeweed.
