Waste rock pile
b. Ore stockpile
c. Soil excavation and stockpile areas
d. Surface drainage control structures
e. Fuel and oil storage areas
f. Shop /dry and maintenance shops
g. Roads and associated pads
h. Utilities
i. Ventilations shafts
a. Waste Rock Pile
The proposed waste area will be located on the western most slope of the
permitted area on top of the previously reclaimed mine waste area. The slope
here is quite steep so it will be terraced into two narrow benches, one above the
other (see Exhibit C labeled "waste rock pile "). Currently there is little to no
topsoil here so there will be no need to strip this area before dumping begins. As
stopes become mined -out, as much waste rock as possible will be gobbed in the
mined -out stopes. Thus, it is expected that the surface storage area will be
sufficient for all future mining operations and there will be no need for expansion
of the waste rock pile. The pile will be stacked to a height that will not impede
grading of 2:1 during reclamation.
Berms and ditches will be constructed around the waste rock pile to divert
stormwater away from the waste pile. A runoff basin will be constructed
downhill and adjacent to the waste rock pile to catch any surface runoff coming
off the piles (see Appendix II for a complete description of the Drainage Design
Plan).
C -4
