Introduction
SR -13A Mine
Permit No. M- 1977 -311
Request for Amendment to Reclamation Permit
The SR -13A Mine is located approximately 1.6 miles north- northwest of Slick Rock,
Colorado in San Miguel County. It is operated by Cotter Corporation as a 110
Hardrock/Metal Mining Permit No. M- 1977 -311. The original 110 application included
9.74 acres.
Cotter is the lessee of Mining Lease No. AT (05- 1) -ML- 60.8- C- SR -13A originally issued
by the U.S. Department of Energy on September 16, 1977. This lease covers some 393
acres and gives Cotter the right to explore, develop, mine and remove ore deposits of
uranium, vanadium and associated minerals.
Known reserves will be accessed through the mine portal located in Section 25, T44N,
R19W NMPM. The permit was issued in 1977. The portal area, mine waste areas and
ventholes associated with this mine have been reclaimed.
Cotter is amending the original permit in order to comply with the Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety's (DRMS) request. Under the new rules and regulations
for hardrock mining, all uranium mines are classified as Designated Mining Operations
(DMOs), and as such require Environmental Protection Plans.
Cotter is requesting the release of 3.81 acres associated with a venthole and its access
road, as well as a reclaimed waste dump site south of the main mining area. 1.22 acres
are being added to the mine yard and waste dump in order to include stormwater manage-
ment structures. 0.86 acres are being added for a road to access the site's venthole.
Cotter submits the attached exhibits and maps to provide clarifying information for this
request.
