Operator:
Mid-Continent Resources, Inc.
PO BOX 1298 ,
Glenwood Springs, Co 81602
Operator:
Pitkin Iron Co
C-017-81
Coal Basin mine
12\10\93
Citizen complaint referral
Gary Fritz, #244
The Albuquerque Field Office (AFO) received a citizens
complaing from Mr. Mike Mechau on December 7, 1993 . Mr.
Mechau did not specifically state that he did require
confidentiality in his correspondence to this office,
therefore the Albuquerque Field Office finds that his name
shall be kept confidential in this matter. The letter stated
that he had previously contacted the Division of Minerals and
Geology (DMG) about the issues discussed.
The enclosed Ten-Day Notice (TDN) and this report are
considered an administrative action and not a citizens
complaint inspection.
A copy of Mr. Mechau' s letter is enclosed for DMG' s reference.
The alleged violation identified in the letter is the failure
of the operator to reclaim the roads on the mine .
DMG has ten days from receipt of the TDN to respond to AFO.
If a response is not received within ten days, or if the
response is deemed inappropriate, a Federal inspection may be
conducted.
