Waldron
Reclamation Specialist
Division of Minerals & Geology
1313 Sherman St.
Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Request for extension of abatement periods. NoVs C-93-093, C-93-096,
C-93-098, C-93-108.
Dear Mr. Waldron:
Although we've had a number of previous discussions and correspondence, it occurs to
me that it might be helpful to consolidate our requests for extension of certain
abatement deadlines of late July/early August.
We've requested extensions of NoVs C-93-093, C-93-094, C-93-096 and C-93-108.
None of these requests would extend the abatement period beyond 90 days from the
time the violation was written.
C-93-093
The abatement requires placement of topsoil on the terraces of the Sutey pile. As we
are going to be placing topsoil on the pile as a whole within the next several weeks, it
allows greater efficiency to place the topsoil on the terraces at the same time we are
transporting topsoil to the remaining sections of the pile.
C-93-096
Concerning submittal of as-built certifications on the ditch above the area adjacent the
old refuse pile. The ditch has been constructed; however, the requirement for as-built
certifications had not been included on the original NoV, and so had not been included
in our lists of necessary abatement steps. We will submit the certification if required by
the Division, but do require more time to prepare it.
C-93-098
We would like further clarification from the Division as to steps to be taken to
appropriately comply with the abatement requirements.
