Box 500
Carbondale, CO 81623 JUL 23 1987
Ms. Candace Thompson liECLAIM1INED LAND
Hydrologist ATfpN DIVISION
Mined Land Reclamation
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Minor Revision, Rock Tunnel , Pond A
Dear Candace,
Enclosed you will find a design and as-built drawing of
the existing discharge structures for Pond "A" at the rock
tunnel . Since the permit application seems to be unclear
concerning this pond, Mid-Continent is hereby requesting a
Minor Revision to Permit C-81-017 in order to clarify what
structures actually exist at this pond.
As you will note on the enclosed drawing, a 6"
principal spillway was installed with a 36" diameter
emergency spillway. In Volume 3, App. II-B-7 Att. 4, page
32 of Mid-Contintent Permit Application, I showed that the
existing emergency spillway would adequately handle a 25
year - 24 hour precipitation event plus the maximum mine
effluent running into this pond.
This design/as-built drawing should be inserted into
Volume 3, App. II-B-7 Att. 4 as page 1B. If you have any
questions concerning this minor revision, please feel free
to contact me at the mine.
Sincerely,
Scott ones, F.E.
Environmental Engineer
cc: Doug Bowman
