Thompson : REe,-LAMA7_,-
Mid-Continent requests a minor revision (MR 1) to allow us
to selectively cut trees along the path of the 3. 8 mile long
23 KV power line known as the "5-101ine Loop . "
Since the construction of this power line in 1971 , trees have
grown to the point that the original 50 ' right-of-way has been
rendered inadequate for prevention of occasional tree blow-down
onto the power line . We propose to fell threatening trees ,
primarily the tall but unstable Aspen trees , along the 3 . 8 mile
length of the 5-Mine Loop.
An inquiry with the office of the District Ranger, U. S . Forest
'Service, regarding the provisions of Special Use Permit r2720,
dated 6-19-69, confirmed that Mid-Continent has the right to
maintain the power line right-of-way in an unobstructed
condition.
Enclosed, please find a map of the route of the power line .
Sincerely,
David Kellogg
Environmental Coordinator
