Permit C-81-017.
Dear Mr. Mathews:
Mid-Continent Resources requests a minor revision to permit C-81-
017. We propose to route the mine water, during this time of no
mining, to the second and third of the three pond series above
outfall 016. The mine water is clear and well below effluent
limits for TSS before it enters the ponds, so there is no need of
the uppermost pond to settle out sediment. As you know, we monitor
pond inflow on a weekly basis for TSS. The existing pipe system
allows us to route water around any one of the ponds. This is
usually done during cleaning. The design of the pond would not, of
course, be amended, so it would continue to safely pass flows from
storm events.
Our purpose in making this request is to test whether runoff
received by the uppermost pond has an influence on biotest results
from samples taken at the 016 outfall.
Yours truly,
Diane Delaney
Mid-Continent Resources
