Obtain rip
rap material.
Dear Mr. Mathews:
Mid-Continent Resources requests a minor revision (MR-33) to permit
C-81-017 to obtain material for rip rap which the Division has
directed Mid-Continent to place as part of maintenance on the road
drainage system. There are several areas on the mine property from
which suitable material can be obtained without damage or
disturbance to the environment. The material and locations include:
- Rock debris deposited by previous flood events in the
channel of Dutch Creek. We would propose to remove
material from the area near the Road C crossing.
- Rock debris deposited by previous flood events in the
channel of Coal Creek. We propose to remove material
from the area near the low water crossing at Road G.
- Rock material from the hillside along Road D, up the road
a short distance from the Arctic Circle, in the area
designated D-5 on Map II-B-7 Att. 2.
- Rock material from a gravel deposit on the hillside which
is southwest of the lowermost of the sediment ponds above
outfall 001.
Removal of rip rap material from these areas does not conflict with
the requirements of 4.05.18 for protection of stream buffer zones.
