Pipe Discharge Design
The 9 ' pipe will hang over the existing trough for a distance of 1
foot .
A concrete splash plate has been located at the bottom of the
vertical flume section as part of the original design. This
concrete pact is usable but additional boulders and concrete w i 11 be
placed for a distance of 25 feet from the bottom of the discharge
downstream. No significant scouring has occurred in the past at
this location and the added material will further protect against
future scouring.
Other Construction Details
All old tires , steel and debris will be removed from behind the
existing flume. Compacted dirt will only be placed around the
entrance to the pipe to provide additional safety factor for a
large storm and to continue to provide access to the old refuse
area on the other side of the pipe.
In order to remove all water from the channel during construction,
the flows in the trough upstream will be placed in a 16" diameter
plastic pipe located in the trough , until the construction is
complete. Once work is started, work will proceed as rapidly as
possible until completion .
`1713
