PUBLIC NOTICE
The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board ("the Board" ) will hold a public
hearing at 9:00 a.m. on September 24, 1985, at 1313 Sherman Street, Room 110,
Denver, Colorado, regarding an order issued to Mid-Continent Resources, Inc.
("Mid-Continent") to show cause why mined land permit No. C-107-81 should not
be revoked or suspended. The show cause order was issued following a
determination by the Mined Land Reclamation Division that a pattern of
violations of statutory, regulatory, and permit requirements has existed at
the permitted facility, the Coal Basin Mines in Pitkin County, Colorado, and
that such violations were caused by the unwarranted failure of Mid-Continent
to comply with those requirements. The hearing will be held pursuant to
sections 34-33-123(7) and 34-33-124(4), C.R.S. (1984) and sections 5.03.3 and
5.03.5 of the "Regulations for Coal Mining." Any person who may be affected
or aggrieved by the issue before the Board shall be entitled to intervene in
the hearing provided he files with the Board a written request to intervene,
including a brief and plain statement of the facts which entitle the person to
intervene and the matters which he claims should be decided. The Board may,
in its discretion, waive these requirements for good cause shown.
2688F
