PERMIT #: M -1997 -100
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: TCW
INSPECTION DATE: October 11, 2012
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection conducted by TC Wait of DRMS. Mr. Phil Dorenkamp represented
the Operator during the site visit. The site is located about 2.5 miles east of Branson, and .36 miles north of
the New Mexico border. Post -mine land use for this site is rangeland. The permit includes 15.5 acres; about
12 acres has been disturbed. The site is dry with no evidence of water.
The site includes an access road from the County Road. The mine was accessed by vehicle. The permit sign
was posted and permit corners marked with t- posts. Topsoil is stockpiled on the northeast side of the
disturbed area. The site was active during the site visit. Mr. Dorenkamp stated that the primary focus of the
recent activity was to clean up the scattered piles of material that have been left from past operations, re-
screening to remove usable materials, and cleaning up the western portion of the current mined area. Some
of the area that had been previously graded is being re- worked during this process. Mr. Dorenkamp
mentioned the County is talking with the Land Owner about possibly mining the hill west of the current mine
area in the future, which will require a permit amendment.
The western part of the site is undergoing grading and appears to be mostly 3:1 or flatter, although some of
the slope along the northern road is steeper than that and will require additional grading.
No problems were noted during the inspection.
