Permit Area <br />Previously Disturbed /Reclaimed <br />Permitted Disturbance Area <br />Previously Reclaimed Area <br />New Disturbance Area <br />Topsoil Removal Area <br />2011 DISTURBANCE AREA <br />2011 ARR 1 <br />PEABODY SAGE CREEK MINE <br />2011 ANNUAL RECLAMATION REPORT <br />Peabody Sage Creek Mine (PSCM) received permit approval on August 20, 2010 and began <br />surface disturbance for the construction of an underground mine in the summer of 2011. The <br />permit area contains 10,164 acres, of which 1,852.4 acres were previously disturbed by Seneca <br />Coal Company. Within the 1,852.4 previously disturbed /reclaimed acres, PSCM has established <br />a "new" disturbance area of approximately 276.4 acres. Within the 276.4 acre disturbance <br />boundary, approximately 62.7 acres have been physically redisturbed (had topsoil removed and <br />stockpiled). The "new" topsoil removal area includes previously reclaimed areas mined by the <br />former Seneca II Mine and limited amounts of never - before disturbed ground. <br />10,164.0 acres <br />1,852.4 acres <br />276.4 acres <br />269.8 acres <br />6.6 acres <br />62.7 acres <br />In 2011, 62.7 acres were disturbed (topsoil removal). This acreage is reflected on the CDRMS <br />Annual Report Form and is included in the text of the following report. The 2011 Reclamation <br />Map portrays the extent of the disturbance boundaries. <br />BACKFILLING AND GRADING <br />No backfilling occurred in 2011 at Peabody Sage Creek mine. <br />TOPSOIL MONITORING <br />PSCM is required by Permit C -09 -087 to monitor the salvage, storage, and redistribution of soil <br />handling operations at Seneca II Mine. <br />• Soil Recovery Documentation <br />There were 136,068 cubic yards of topsoil salvaged during 2011. <br />• Soil Pit - Topsoil Fertility /Spoil Quality <br />No topsoil replacement occurred in 2011; therefore no quality samples were collected or <br />analyzed. <br />
