Rule 2: Permits
• The Shannon-Weiner Index (H,) will be calculated for these categories of plants from cover data
with the following formula:
H, = E P; log P;
P; = N;/N
N; = dominance measure for species (species cover)
N = The sum of all species dominance measure (total vegetative cover)
Thus, P; is equal to relative cover composition. Species diversity will be considered successful
when the Shannon-Weiner Index of the revegetated area is equal to or greater than the standard.
