2011 Annual Reclamation Report
Adequacy Review
Dear Mr. Karo:
The Division has reviewed the 2011 Annual Reclamation Report submitted for the Yoast Mine.
The report adequately addressed the requirements of Rule 2.04.13(a) through (d) and (f). The
Division did not find complete information on the requirements of Rule 2.04.13(e) for the location
and number of acres of vegetation planted during the report year. Page 2 of the report, under
"Revegetation — Shrub Planting" indicates that Narrowleaf cottonwoods and Coyote willows were
planted in the riparian areas along Armand Draw, near the junction with the North pit and Neck Pit.
The location of the new plantings does not appear to be depicted on the "Chronological Seeding"
exhibit accompanying the report. Please revise the exhibit to include the location(s) of all shrubs
planted in 2011.
The "2012 Planned Reclamation" exhibit includes 3.4 acres of scheduled topsoil replacement and
seeding in the vicinity of Pond 012. On June 20, 2012, the Division approved a delay of
reclamation for one year to ensure that the area has stabilized. Topsoil redistribution and seeding in
this area must be completed no later than December 31, 2013.
