Jim Herron
Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Minor Revision - Catchment Basins Nos. 1 and 4 Mines
Dear Jim,
Enclosed are some maps and descriptions of the catchment basins
constructed this fall--three at No. 1 Mine and one at No. 4
Mine. .
The three basins at No. 1 Mine range from 1.0 A.F. to 1 . 3 acre
feet (80' x 120' x 6' ) and are designed to discharge in series
(see Arrows on map) . We think these catchment basins will be
of benefit in the reduction of probable sediment from the old
road and pad fills adjacent to No. 1 Mine.
One basin (80' x 120' x 6' ) was constructed at the toe of the
old north fill slope at No. 4 Mine. This location is also at
the toe -of one of the newly constructed test sections for mine
pads . We feel that this basin will fill a twofold purpose:
that is , reduce probable sediment from the old fill section and
reduce sediment from the newly constructed pad fill test
section. See enclosed map.
If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincerely,
Environmental Coordinator
DWBowman:ms
Enclosures: Two maps
