CONTINENT RESOURCESINC.
PRODUCERS OF THE FAMOUS COAL BASIN COKING COAL
1068 COUNTY ROAD 100• BOX 500
CARBONDALE,COLORADO 81623
TLX
MAIN OFFICE (303)963-2581 45-0724
DISTRICT OFFICE (303)963-0555 FAX
WAREHOUSE (303)963-3223 (303)963-2816
Notice of Violation C-89-013 Beltline
Activity in response to the Notice of violation:
1. On June 1st and 2nd I had one man monitor the
beltline to determine the cause of spillage. He found the
cause to be the build-up of water on the belts from
underground pumping of water onto the belt. This caused
ponding on the belt. When the coal hit this ponding it
would slurry, then spill over the--edge. When the pumping of
water onto the belt from inside the mine stopped, the
spillage along the beltline ceased.
2. To clean under the beltline it was necessary to
lease a track loader. We have no equipment on the property
that would fit under the beltline. The track loader was
used for approximately forty (40) hours the week of June
12th thru the 16th.
3 . Four men were enlisted for one work week, eight
hours per day, to shovel, rake, and sweep the coal that was
to be loaded and hauled away. Mid-Continent's loader then
filled a truck and the coal was hauled to and dumped at the
Rock Tunnel refuse pile.
4. The approximate cost of just this operation was
$5,784 .00, itemized as follows: 40 hrs. track loader @
$35.00/hr. for $1400.00; four men, five days, eight hours
per day @ $11.00/hr--160 hrs. @ $11.00/hr. = $1,760.00.
Total dollar amount also includes the observer's wages, 16
hrs. @ $11.00/hr. = $176 .00 . The cost of Mid-Continent's
loader for 24 hours was $840.00; the cost of the truck was
$1,080 .00 and total operator cost for the truck and loader
was $528.00.
Lew Thompson
June 19 , 1989
