Mr. W. Hord Tipton -2- December 27, 1991
We are requesting that the OSM determine whether $20,000 is available from any
source, so that site maintenance can be continued following the anticipated
revocation and forfeiture. Our concern is that environmental degradation
during pre-reclamation be minimized. Perhaps the necessary funds could be
advanced to the State for short-term stabilization and repaid later from the
proceeds of the property liquidation. I would like to discuss this with you
by phone in the near future, after you have had opportunity to review any
potential alternatives which may be available. I will contact you during the
week of January 6, 1992 to discuss this further.
Meanwhile, please contact me or David Bucknam if you have questions or
comments .
Sincerely
J
Steven G. Renner
Coal Program Supervisor
SGR/gaw
cc: Ken Salazar
David Bucknam
Ray Lowrie
Robert Hagen
9991F
