Dept. of Natural ResourcesOr,
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Tunnel Hydrologic Plan
Dear Jim:
We have had continuing problems with heavy rains and excess soil
moisture, as you can see by the June and July precip records. The excess
moisture has kept us from obtaining the proper compaction on both dams
being constructed at the tunnel (Chin & Associates, Glenwood Springs).
This excess moisture has also delayed our construction of the clean
water ditch.
The ponds are about 80 percent done (both discharge pipes are in
place) and the clean water ditch is about 80 percent finished. We are
now into rock, and the going is slow.
We would like to submit a revised completion schedule as follows:
The ponds and the ditch would be completed on or before 8/201/84. We would
also like to submit a revision to our tunnel hydrologic plan at this time,
eY,hich ixuuld include enlarging our temporary pond on the tunnel pad and
making it a permanent sediment pond with the proper outlet and spillway.
The design and calculations will be submitted shortly.
If you have any questions please contact me.
Sincerely,
00411ea lO
Environmental Coordinator
DWBowman:ms
Enclosures
